Iria Flavia was an episcopal see until 1095, when Pope Urban II moved it to Santiago: that is why its collegiate church is considered the second cathedral of Compostela. Camilo José Cela was born in Iria Flavia, where his foundation is.

Practical tips
- Cross the N-550 with care: the Camino crosses it several times.
- You cannot enter the cathedral with a backpack: leave it at your albergue or in a left-luggage service.
- For the Compostela you need to have walked at least the last 100 km and carry two stamps per day on that stretch.
- Since 16 October 2026 the Pilgrims’ Mass has been held in the church of San Agustín (9:30, 12:00 and 19:30); confirm the times on arrival.
